In the event of a life threatening situation

For Emergency Care, go immediately to the Emergency Room at the nearest hospital or call 911.
Whenever possible, please call our office before going to the hospital to arrange optimal care and prevent unnecessary expense and/or waiting at the hospital.

We try to see all our patients on an appointment basis. We request that you call in advance, so that we may reserve the needed time for your visit. If you must miss a scheduled appointment, please call 24 business hours in advance to notify us and reschedule at ext. 234. This courtesy allows us to be of service to other patients and avoids you receiving a missed appointment bill. All calls on this phone are time stamped when called.

A qualified provider is available at times. We ask that you reserve after hours call for problems that cannot wait until regular office hours. Do not hesitate to call if there is an urgent problem or if you are not certain whether your problem can wait until regular office hours. Phone calls after hours are taken by our answering service and relayed to our on-call physician who will return your call shortly. If you have call block, please disable it (*82) while waiting for your return call.

All prescriptions and authorizations for refills can be requested 24 hours a day. Please be advised that refills left on this line by 11:00 am will be addressed that day. If we are on a holiday, we will address your refill on the following business day. If your prescription has not been called in, contact our office.

Inclement Weather

We at Greater Hampstead Family Medicine understand the weather conditions that we have been facing over the past few years. In the event of a power outage, our office is equipped with a backup generator. This generator will power the building and allow us to see patients as we normally do. We understand that you may not be able to make your appointment because of the weather, but we want you to know that we will be here.

Telephone Calls

In order to give patients the provider’s undivided attention during their visits, our trained nursing staff handles medical related phone calls. Calls that need to be returned by the medical provider will be done as soon as possible. Please note that “routine phone calls” after hours may be subject to an appropriate phone call charge, which may or may not be paid by your insurance company.
